What is Ovarian Cystectomy

Ovarian cysts are the cause of a great deal of anxiety and concern for many women, and much of the time they are not truly a problem. The first thing a patient needs to understand is "what is a cyst"??
By definition, a cyst is a fluid filled structure, and depending where it is located, and what type of fluid is contained within the cyst, it will have a special name.

The Operation

Ovarian cysts can be removed safely and effectively via laparoscopy while leaving the healthy ovarian tissue in place and unharmed. The cysts, regardless of their size, can be removed intact as they are carefully dissected free of the ovary and removed from the body via collapsible laparoscopic bags. Ovarian cysts that are suspicious for cancer can be sent for pathological examination
